Why am I standing?

I run a small business in the Open Market and have been listening to the concerns of residents and shoppers in the area. I have lived and worked in Brighton for nearly three decades and have been interested and involved in a number of community activities throughout my life, with success in making positive changes. I believe I can continue to make a difference within the City as an elected councillor.

If elected, I regard this as a privilege and great responsibility, to work as part of a team that works on behalf of all in the community.

I am now standing as a candidate in Hollingdean & Fiveways Ward at the Brighton & Hove City Council Local Elections to serve as an elected councillor. I am committed to making sure everyone gets the best representation and services possible that they deserve from their local councillors. We work for you.

I will seek:

  • to Listen to every person in the area and to treat all with Respect and Dignity,

  • to Represent the Issues and Aspirations of everyone, employed or jobless, disadvantaged, in education or business,

  • to influence and improve Community Safety alongside Sussex police and the council,

  • to work to achieve Fairness in Rent and Security for tenants and landlords,

  • to seek to provide best guidance and assistance to Local Businesses, small and large, to promote the Local Economy,

  • to support a Free Parking Scheme for Hollingdean and Fiveways residents and to oppose implementation of parking charges here,

  • to fight to keep open Public Toilets across the city,

  • to campaign to establish a Healthy Neighbourhood Scheme, promoting healthy eating, cooking lessons, exercise club, health advice and info to promote wellbeing,

  • to press the aim for Education and Leisure Opportunities for all, whatever age,

  • to continue to support the local Food Bank, recognising their importance through these harsh times, but also campaigning to make them unnecessary by achieving a Decent Living Wage,

  • to work to bring back to Hollingdean the Lucky Dip Community Festival, an event to have fun and celebrate Diversity and promote Community Cohesion in this area.
